Honda Pony Express Enduro
My eldest boy who's 10 did his first enduro today, it was a pony express but they ran it as a sprint series. Basiclly that means everybody starts at 30 sec intervals and is timed to the finnish line. It was run like this for dust and safety reasons. He struggled on the site lap because of some track marking problems but was keen to race. I don't think he has ever fallen off so many times in 1 day as he did today, even managed to get his bike stuck in a tree somehow. I also don't think i've ever seen him so proud as he was when he finnished this afternoon. The people who were running the junior track and all the other competeters and parents were so encouraging it was really good to see. One boy even said don't worry if you fall off because i start after you and i'll give you a hand. Anyway, it was a really good day and apart from breaking his handguards and radiator shroud the bike came out of it well too. He wants to do another one so we'll see what happens at round 2. _________________ As quoted by Ricky Bobby "If you aint first your last"

In my hurry to leave on sunday morning I forgot the camera, so there's no photos. The property it was run on is about half an hour south of Aratula which alltogether is around 2 hours from our place. The racing was done in sprint style which means a 1 lap race of about 15mins. When the last rider returns they start everybody again in order at 30 sec intervals. The laps are timed and added up and the lowest time overall for the day is the winner. All up they did 5 races, which was more than enough for my boy. We didn't hang around for presentation(no need) so are unsure where he finnished(last I think). Points will be posted on the net latter. When its there turn to race you only see them for about 30 secs as they head into the bush, and then there on there own. Theres sweep riders who go around and help people that have problems, but you can't see your rider till they come out of the bush at the end(not spectator friendly). Its a lot more relaxed than mx, which is refreshing. _________________ As quoted by Ricky Bobby "If you aint first your last"
